Johnnie Thomas has been both a participant and a peer champion in Wholesome Wave Georgia’s produce prescription program, Georgia Food for Health. She currently serves on their Healthy Georgia Advisory Committee. Professionally, Ms. Thomas is a community-based registered nurse dedicated to helping families access the medical care and resources that they need to survive, live and thrive. Personally, she is a neighbor in a food desert community impacted by economic inequality, historic underdevelopment, systemic inequities and all of the expected risks and health challenges that come along with these disparities. Ms. Thomas is driven by a passion for social activism and service to others deeply rooted in her faith and leveraged for the benefit and support of under-resourced and under-served communities like her own.
