Kate Barney is the founder of KB & Co., a creative consultancy serving food and agriculture businesses.
Kate Barney previously served as Vice President for Row 7 Seed Company, a seed and produce company founded by Chef Dan Barber of Blue Hill and Blue Hill at Stone Barns and public plant breeder Michael Mazourek. Kate also previously worked as Service Director and Sommelier at Blue Hill at Stone Barns, Vice President and Co-founder of Masienda (a company importing landrace maize from Mexico to the U.S.) and Operations Director of Fare Resources (an food consulting business with clients from AirBnB to Etsy).
She holds an undergraduate degree from Kenyon College in American Studies and Studio Art and a graduate degree from The University of Gastronomic Sciences in Food Culture and Communications, both cum laude with honors. In 2012 she was named one of the 16 young food professionals to watch by Eater and in 2016 she was named one of 40 Rising Stars Changing Food Policy Under 40 by the NYC Food Policy Center. Kate has received awards and grants from various organizations, including Fulbright U.S., Les Dames D’Escoffier, The James Beard Foundation and The American Institute of Wine and Food.
