Leeza is a seed farmer, traditional plant breeder, and farmer organizer. She believes that local food starts with local seed and is a founding member of the Appalachian Seed Growers Collective in an effort for seed farmers to access more education, equipment and higher pay. Leeza is currently the farm manager for the Utopian Seed project where she focuses on climate resiliency through crop diversity. Her favorite days on the farm are when she gets to dream up and makenew crosses, and thoughtfully make plant selections. She is inspired by her mom's childhood in Taiwan and the food she would cook for the family. When not thinking about farming Leeza also enjoys being an artist, and has recently become very excited about sculptural basketry.
