Rockiell Woods is a farmer (Wood-Wad Farms LLC) with over 20 years of experience in the Delta providing training, organizing farmers, and building collaborations among communities, universities, and government agencies. Mr. Woods has a demonstrated history of educating and practicing conventional and sustainable agriculture in the context of managing hunger and increasing access to food.
As the Project Director for Mississippi Delta Council for Farm Workers Opportunities Inc. managing their Delta Regional Food Business Center grant project. Woods has led and developed projects and managed the project resources over $10 mil dollars in grant funding. Planned and executed outreach and training activities that support objectives and mission for producers annually across Mississippi and the southern region. He has coordinated, lead, and recruited farmer networks to cultivate relationships within the Region. He has supported the launch of the projects and he regularly hosts workshops for historically underserved growers in Crop Production, Financial Management and more.
He’s experienced in beginning farmer training, production education in traditional and non-traditional row crops. Skilled in Non-Profit Organization Management, Risk Management, Food and Agricultural Policy, and Grant Writing and Implementation.
He builds coalitions and relationships around issues of food insecurity and sustainable agriculture, strong relationships with Mississippi farmers, effective manager, knowledge and execution of efficient budgeting processes. He continues to be a strong advocate for sustainable agriculture programs.
He holds a Master of Science in Agricultural Economics from Alcorn State University.
