In this Farmer Spotlight hear from flower farmer and florist Dee Goodwin of Mermaid City Flowers (VA), on occupying ‘both sides of the flower equation’ and the unique aspects of being both a farmer and a florist. Then, learn about flower farmers, Taij and Victoria Cotton of Cotton Picked Farm (NC) and their journey starting from flower farming under an experience mentor to leasing land and setting off on their own. Both farms will dive into how they got started, where they are now, and the different decisions they’ve made that have shaped their farms. They will also share their collective insight on varieties, farm layout and scale considerations.
